Seasonal Summer Interns

Location: Corning, NY and Wilmington, NC areas

Corning Credit Union (CCU) is currently seeking eager and talented individuals to join the organization for paid summer internships and seasonal support roles. Roles vary, but include Member Service Representatives (Tellers) and various financial processing support functions.  

Ideal candidates are those currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, data analytics, or mathematics; however, other majors will also be considered. CCU will work with colleges to ensure your experience meets program requirements and focuses on technical and interpersonal skill development.       

All roles require

Commercial Loan Officer

Location: Wilmington, NC

Corning Credit Union continues to expand its operations in the greater Wilmington, NC area and is seeking an experienced Commercial Loan Officer to grow our business lending portfolio.

The successful candidate:

  • Is engaging and possesses exceptional communication, relationship-building and sales skills with the ability to build trust and foster viable, profitable relationships.
  • Excellent negotiation, problem solving, and analytical skills are essential.
  • Demonstrates a strong detail orientation and follow-through skills.
  • Maintains exceptional flexibility and is capable of managing multiple deals and meeting with members at their convenience.
  • Consistently presents oneself with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
  • Maintains solid computer skills and is experienced with various Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Has a business development mindset and thinks proactively and strategically about the marketplace.
  • Possesses at least 3 years of commercial lending experience.
  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or other related field. Commensurate work experience will also be considered.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop a commercial loan pipeline, while building a strong overall banking relationship with our members.
  • Maintain and expand current lending relationships through annual relationship reviews and cross sale opportunities.
  • Collect and analyze tax returns, personal financial statements, balance sheets, etc.
  • Utilize the LOS (loan origination system) and CRM (customer relationship manager) to create loans, maintain your loan pipeline and loan portfolio.
  • Underwrite loans within your approval authority and prepare and present loan packages to the Member Business Loan Committee.
  • Work closely with the Credit Analysts and administrators to maintain an effective and cohesive team.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of businesses and industries in the area.
  • Stay abreast of local and national trends and regulations impacting business members and the commercial lending industry.
  • Regularly participate in community events and network with various associations and trade groups to build our brand and drive the business forward.

Consumer Loan Officer

Location: Wilmington, NC

Corning Credit Union is seeking a Consumer Loan Officer to work in our Lending Call Center. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication, customer service, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities:

The Loan Officer is responsible for gathering applicant information, reviewing and analyzing credit histories and making sound lending decisions.  Other duties include providing exceptional service, support, and education to our members including recommending additional products and services to meet their financial needs.

Software Engineer

Location: Corning, NY, Wilmington, NC, or possible telecommuting from PA, NC, SC, GA, TX, or some of NY

Corning Credit Union is seeking a Software Engineer to join its growing Development team. 

The Software Engineer is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining custom software systems that effectively support Corning Credit Union’s diverse business objectives. This includes:

  • A desire for innovation to build scalable solutions using cutting edge technologies.
  • Working with a team to build state of the art microservice/Docker solutions.
  • Executing the full software development life cycle, while adhering to Agile best practices.
  • Developing flowcharts, layouts and documentation to identify system requirements and effective solutions.
  • Writing well-designed, testable code.
  • Producing specifications and determining operational feasibility of various programs and processes.
  • Troubleshooting, debugging, and upgrading existing systems.
  • Complying with project plans, organizational requirements, and various industry standards.
  • Using effective communication skills to report on the progress of projects to all stakeholders and developing functional plans to overcome obstacles, as appropriate.

Required Competencies:

  • Skilled at working within Agile/Scrum framework methodology.
  • Ability to develop software in C#, C++ and/or other programming languages.
  • Experience developing RESTful/SOAP API architectures/endpoints a plus.
  • Understand of secure software development patterns.
  • Understanding of RDBMS technologies.
  • Experience with microservice architectures and Docker a plus.
  • Forward thinking and possesses a business acumen.
  • Has excellent judgment and the ability to make quick decisions and think outside the box when working with complex situations.
  • Possesses strong organization and time management skills and has the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload in a high-pressure environment.

    Marketing Specialist

    Location: Corning, NY or Wilmington, NC area

    Corning Credit Union is seeking a Marketing Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting Corning Credit Union's brand within the marketplace. This includes supporting marketing strategies to develop effective marketing campaigns. Strong graphic design skills are essential to be successful in the role.

    Essential job duties:

    • Creates marketing pieces, with an emphasis on graphic design, but also including concept development and copywriting
    • Provides graphic design for all advertising channels including print, web, social media, direct mail, newsletters, and email
    • Works with vendors, as necessary, to produce or distribute marketing pieces and holds vendors accountable to standards, timelines, and deliverables
    • Stays abreast of policies, advertising regulations, and product and service enhancements in order to effectively educate the team, members, and non-members
    • Also assumes responsibility for other duties or projects as required or assigned

    Required competencies:

    • Well-rounded proficiency in graphic design software, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and the Windows/PC platform
    • Highly creative
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
      • Skilled in both creative and business writing, and the ability to tailor messages to a variety of audiences and channels (including print, website, social media, direct mail, newsletters, emails, etc.)
    • Outstanding quality and accuracy of work
    • Strong planning, organization, and problem-solving skills

    Mortgage Originator

    Location: Corning, NY

    Corning Credit Union is seeking an experienced Mortgage Originator in the Corning, NY area. 

    The NY Mortgage Originator is primarily responsible for assisting our members with their real estate lending needs within our NY branch locations.

    Essential duties and responsibilities include:

    • Interviews loan applicants and assists members throughout the entire mortgage loan application process. Conducts member education and supports the member in selecting the right product for their needs.
    • Is creative in evaluating and offering alternative options to help qualify members for the loan requested.
    • Maintains strong knowledge regarding all applicable regulations and ensures adherence to Fair Lending requirements.
    • Executes accurate calculations and disclosures.
    • Strong outside sales and business development focus.
    • Builds and maintains strong realtor relationships and attends outside events and functions in order to grow the business and secure our reputation as a mortgage leader within the marketplace.
    • Maintains a specialized area of expertise such as; construction, low down payment programs, investment properties, or first time home buyers.

    Qualifications and Education:

    • 1 year of mortgage origination experience
    • Exceptional sales and relationship building skills
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Strong organization and follow-up skills
    • Excellent judgment and analytical skills with the ability to think outside the box when working with complex lending and member situations
    • Proficient in Microsoft Windows applications
    • NMLS registration required
    • Degree in Business or Finance preferred; commensurate work experience also considered
